HISTORY
The Inter Livery Charity Clay Shoot was originally started by Dr John Garnam ( Basketmaker) in the 80’s and was held at the Holland & Holland shooting grounds. It was a very low key affair with thirty to forty guns who were mainly friends through City fraternities. Both Alan Ritson and Chris Parr (Environmental Cleaners) were fortunate to be invited to several of these events and when Dr Garnam relinquished organising the event due to poor health they decided to put a team together to continue the event.
The team consisted of Past master John Howard, Court Assistant Alan Ritson, Court Assistant Chris Parr and Liveryman Sandra Parr, finally getting the event off the ground in the summer of 1993. One hundred guns attended and two thousand pounds was raised for charity
This year 2019 – is the Events 25th Anniversary in terms of the number years it has taken place. We now have in excess of 450 people shooting from as many as fifty five plus Livery Company’s.
Chris Parr is still on the Organising Team and it’s a huge credit to him that we are all enjoying the sport at Holland & Holland all these years later. Chris has now been joined by Richard Ferrand (Fishmonger) who comes with a wealth of experience in the events world and will support the team in taking the event to the next stage.
